About Me

Dale Tanner is a Bay Area based performing artist and writer. Whether it’s through music, dance, theater, film, or television, she loves to use her interdisciplinary artistic skills to entertain, engage, and educate.

A recent graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Theater & Performance Studies, Dale spent much of her time in college performing at various Bay Area regional theaters such as Berkeley Playhouse, City Lights Theater Company, and SPARC Theater. She was also heavily involved with BareStage — UC Berkeley’s premier student theater production company — starring in several of their MainStage productions including American Idiot, Into the Woods, and Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812, while also being a member of and serving as a Rehearsal Manager for BareTroupe — BareStage’s resident musical theater ensemble.

In terms of writing, Dale does it all — scripts, novels, short stories, songs, and content writing alike. She spent two years as a member and manager of BarePage — a student group dedicated to the creation, production, and presentation of original short-form theatrical works, and also had an original ten-minute play presented at STAG Nights in 2023 when she was studying abroad at the University of Glasgow. This past April, she had her short story “Every Loaded Gun” published in the Long River Review.

“The most captivating performance, however, comes from Dale Tanner as Johnny. Tanner not only sang her numbers remarkably, but demonstrated phenomenal acting throughout the musical. Johnny is perhaps the most angst-filled, angry and stubborn of all of the characters, and Tanner fully captures these strong characteristics by incorporating even the smallest, most subtle mannerisms thoughtfully while underlining her entire performance with lots of fiery passion. She is a marvel to watch on stage.”

“Two of the absolute standouts of the show were Dale Tanner, who played Anatole, and Sartaj Gill, who played both Andrey and Bolkonsky. Tanner played the womanizer with a staggering ease. Anatole’s cocky and slightly manipulative tendencies were bolstered by Tanner’s movement — a swaggering grace that was hard to look away from.”

Patricia L. Morin, Front Row Review, 2024 Jul. 24

“The Phantoms: Stephanie Bauman, Chloë Genevieve Fehr, and Dale Tanner, are shadow people who exhibit total sexual freedom. They harmoniously sing in the dark background, sometimes slithering up and down each other’s bodies. Their sleek moves, sneaking in and around the stage like snakes, embodies figures of evil.”
